NPP postpones Akuapem South parliamentary primary

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) national leadership has rescheduled the Akuapem South constituency’s parliamentary primary.

To allow for the hearing of a petition submitted by Frank Aidoo, the Municipal Chief Executive of Akuapem South, this is being done.

After the current MP, O.B. Amoah, withdrew from the race, Frank Aidoo petitioned the party’s leadership to be permitted to run in the parliamentary primary on Saturday, January 27, 2024.

NPP postpones Akuapem South parliamentary primary

Prior to this, O.B. Amoah made it clear that he will not run for a fourth term as the MP for Akuapem South. He then reversed course and picked up nomination forms in order to run for the position again.

In a statement, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the general secretary of the NPP, said that the postponement would give the leadership time to address the issues brought up and urged supporters to work with them.

The leadership of the New Patriotic Party has resolved to postpone the AKUAPEM SOUTH parliamentary primary, initially scheduled for Saturday, January 27, 2024. This decision is in response to petitions received, accompanied by recommendations from both the constituency executive committee and the regional executive committee. The postponement aims to ensure comprehensive consultations and address raised concerns.
