NDC criticizes the NPP for its “cheap” attempt to “steal” Mahama’s “24-hour economy” strategy
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has charged that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is trying to copy the innovative “24-hour economy” concept of its leader, John Mahama.
In his 2024 presidential campaign, Mr. Mahama has made the 24-hour economy a focal point of his platform, pleading for its ability to spur job creation and economic expansion.
But during his presentation of the 2024 budget to the assembly on Wednesday, Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta asserted that the policy was already in place. Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer for the NDC, responded sharply.
“No desperate attempt by Alhaji Bawumia and the NPP who are bereft of ideas to steal this policy will work. We have seen the cheap attempt they made in the 2024 budget to steal this project and to create an impression that they are already doing it.”
Gyamfi further elaborated, “They (government) are not doing what they spoke about or what John Mahama is proposing to do. They should be original and come up with policies for Ghanaians to know that they take us seriously. They should stop this attempt to steal policies they know next to nothing about.”
According to Jackson, successful execution depends on creating an atmosphere that supports company expansion in a round-the-clock economy.
