Arrest and prosecute thugs who invaded UTV – GJA to Police

The Ghana Police Service (GPS) is being urged to bring charges against the assailants by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), which has denounced the attack on United Television (UTV).

In a statement released on Sunday, the GJA stated that it had learned that “about 30 hooligans attacked the Accra-based private television station’s studios, and although the Police arrested some of them, others managed to escape.”

The GJA stated that it anticipates the Police to swiftly apprehend and bring charges against the attackers, just as they did in the case of the attack on Dagbon FM in Tamale in May of this year.

“The GJA also calls on the government, non-government organizations (NGOs), civil society organizations (CSOs), the diplomatic community, international agencies, and all well-meaning Ghanaians and people of good conscience to roundly condemn this barbaric act and the masterminds of the same,” it added.
