Members of Parliament elect in the 2020 elections have been constitutionally sworn in as Members of Parliament on today, Thursday,7 January,2021 by the Speaker of Parliament, Honourable Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin.
Honourable Alban Sumana Bagbin of the NDC, who is the former MP for Nadowli Kaleo, has been elected Speaker of the 8th Parliament of the Fourth Republic after a chaotic, closely contested secret ballot in the Chamber of Parliament on Thursday,7 January,2021 where he contested against former Speaker of Parliament, Prof Aaron Mike Oquaye.
Currently, Member Parliament for Bekwai constituency, Mr. Joseph Osei-Owusu has been elected as First Deputy Speaker of the 8th Parliament. Honourable Andrew Amoako Asiamah, the Member of Parliament for Fomena has also being elected as the 2nd Deputy Speaker of the 8th Parliament.
The Speaker of Parliament,Honourable Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin at 12 pm today, will inaugurate the President and Vice President elect into office.
