Lewandowski Scores 600th Goal in Barcelona Victory

In a routine victory over Villarreal, Robert Lewandowski scored his 600th and 601st goals of his career for Barcelona.

At the end of the first half, Barca scored three goals in seven minutes but still lost 3-1 to Real Madrid.

Lewandowski scored his first goal after receiving a cross from Jordi Alba, turning around, and beating Geronimo Rulli. He quickly added a second goal after receiving a feed from Gavi.

In the 38th minute, Ansu Fati made it 3-0, moving Barcelona up to second place in La Liga, three points behind Real Madrid.

The victory marked Barca’s first in three games after Lewandowski’s injury-time goal in the 3-3 Champions League tie at home against Inter Milan and their subsequent loss in the El Clasico fixture at the Bernabeu.

After Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, Lewandowski, 34, is the third player since 2000 to surpass the 600-goal career milestone.

With his two goals against Villarreal at the Nou Camp, he has now scored 16 goals in 14 games across all competitions since arriving there for £42.6 million in the summer from Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski scored 103 goals in 186 appearances for his previous club Borussia Dortmund before scoring 344 goals in 375 games for Bayern.

Prior to relocating to Germany, he scored 76 goals in 134 international games for Poland. He also scored 21 goals for Znicz Pruszkow and 41 goals for Lech Poznan, both Polish teams.
