Kennedy Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central and a flagbearer candidate for the party in the impending 2024 presidential elections, has a pickup with his image on it.
In addition to a giant image of Kennedy Agyapong and the slogan “Ken Ohene Agyapong for President 2024 – Patriotism, Honesty, and Discipline,” the vehicle is also branded with slogans in favor of Agyapong.
The lettering that is visible on the opposite side of the car, however, is what has caught the public’s attention. It reads, “Ken 2024 Showdown,” in large letters.
Showdown is related to a recent, contentious statement made by a candidate for the NPP’s super delegates. He used the word “showdown” in a way that generated outrage.
Kennedy Agyapong threatened to engage Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in a confrontation.
During the Super Delegates Conference, he claimed that his agent had been treated unfairly.
Along with three other candidates, former trade minister Alan Kyerematen, vice president Mahamudu Bawumia, and Addai-Nimoh, Agyapong will run for the position of flagbearer.
The NPP has set November 4, 2023, as the date to choose a new party leader to succeed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
