Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly still keen on securing a “dream” move for Kylian Mbappe – and remains in contact with the Paris Saint-Germain superstar.
The French superstar is the player seen as most likely to take the title of the world’s best player, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi seemingly in the twilight of their careers.
Mbappe helped inspire France to the World Cup in 2018 and already has 14 goals and seven assists in just 18 appearances this season.
Along with Liverpool, Real Madrid are believed to be seriously tracking the 22-year-old, although Klopp is looking to beat the Spanish giants to his signature.
According to AS, the Reds boss has been in ‘contact’ with Mbappe in the hope of convincing him of a move to Anfield.
The report also states that Klopp ‘dreams’ of signing Mbappe and wants him to spearhead Liverpool’s attack which already boasts Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.
Mbappe has previously been linked with a switch to Anfield after confessing his admiration for them.
“What Liverpool do in this moment is amazing,” he said last year when Klopp’s side were still unbeaten.
“They’re like a machine, they’ve found a rhythm and are like ‘we play again, we play again’.
“They’ve lost zero games. When you watch you think everything’s easy but that’s not easy. The guys are focused, they play games every three days and they win, they win, they win.
“Now the problem is that everybody watches Liverpool, and everybody watches what we can do against them
“So now they have to show they are strong again but it’s a very good team with a very good manager.”
