Kennedy Agyapong, member of parliament for Assin Central, has stated that, should he be elected president, no family members will hold positions of authority in his administration.
The congressman claims that he will run for president and, if elected, will take a strong stand against discipline and corruption.
He emphasized that he would not appoint any family members to positions of authority, adding that even his wife, who was seated in the room (a radio station studio), would return to being a housewife if she misbehaved in her role as First Lady.
“No one in my family will hold public office. You will be sacked when the time comes, according to Agyapong, who has declared his intention to run as the NPP’s flagbearer in the 2024 elections.
In an interview that was conducted on June 24, 2022, before a program in the regional center of the Bono Region, where he served as the keynote speaker, he delivered the remarks.
The purpose of the event was to inspire young people and share his life experiences with them.
The president is said to appoint his family members and close friends, who he cannot remove if necessary, under the present administration’s “family and friends” mantra.
The most recent request for the president to move against an appointed relative comes from former president Mahama, who wants the president’s cousin and finance minister Ken Ofori-Atta fired.
