I wanted to be president of Ghana – Azumah Nelson

If Azumah Nelson had pursued his political goal, he would currently be Ghana’s top executive and a well-known boxing figure.

Mr. Nelson made the first public admission in an interview with XYZ TV that he had aspirations to lead Ghana as president when he was younger.

He claimed that he trumpeted his obsession with being president to anyone who would listen at a time when boxing was not even a consideration.

I wanted to be president of Ghana

He noted that while he lacked the wherewithal to realize this dream, the thought of ruling a nation appealed to him.

As luck would have it, he abandoned his plans to run for president and instead adopted his father’s passion for boxing.

“As a child you always proclaim what you want to be in future. In my case I said if I don’t fight boxing, I would be a President. I just said what I wanted”.

With a record of 39 victories in his 47 matches, he has established himself as a two-weight world champion.
