I dream of Ghana having a female president – Rebecca Akufo-Addo

Ghana will likely elect its first female president soon, according to First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo’s prediction.

The First Lady stated that accomplishing such a first would serve as motivation for girls throughout the nation to contribute more to Ghana’s advancement and development.

Speaking at the University of Professional Studies, Accra, during the 5th session of the 15th Congregation, the First Lady urged young girls to be inspired to strive for greater success in their careers and in their quest of personal development.

She highlighted the important responsibilities that women play in the executive and judicial branches, saying that she hopes to see a female president of Ghana one day.

“I dream that one day there will be a woman president in Ghana and Madam President will be said as easy as Mr. President.”

The First Lady was also awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters (HonD.HL) degree by the University of Professional Studies.

Former and Ghana’s first female Speaker of Parliament, Justice Adeline Bamford-Addo, and the former first female Chief Justice of the Republic, Justice Georgina Theodora Wood, were also honored for their respective contributions to the development of Ghana.
