“Going to IMF is just like handing over power to NDC without a contest” – Kennedy Agyapong

Kennedy Agyapong, the lawmaker for Assin Central, has firmly warned that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will lose the general elections of 2024 if they accept an IMF bailout which will make the National Democratic Congress (NDC) win the election with ease.

The candidate for president in 2024 claims that going to the IMF would be the same as handing the NDC control of the country without a vote.

He continued by saying that the NPP, and he personally, made a lot of noise when the John Mahama government and the NDC went to the IMF for a bailout because of the NDC’s poor economic management.

The NPP cannot be led by the same individuals or faces that will help the party break the eight, the Assin Central MP emphasized once more.

He said so at a gathering of “National Constituency Officers Welfare” with the theme “Uniting Our Front to Break the Eight” in Koforidua, the administrative center of the Eastern Regional.

“Somebody texted me not to say anything about IMF, me I shouldn’t say anything about the IMF? I will say it !! What are we going to say again”.

“Going to IMF is just like handing over power to NDC without a contest straight away, because of the noise we made and I chew my own words back when I said the NDC went to the IMF because of the mismanagement of the economy so if NPP is going to IMF what am I going to say? So breaking the eight is going to be tough”.

“You cannot use the face of those who took us to IMF to break the eight, it won’t work, my message to you is very simple, you can read my lip, and am not scared of anybody in the party, I will tell you the gospel truth, those who take you to IMF this same face cannot break the eight, In Latin, they say ” Vebon sepiantus satisfies” a word to the wise is enough. I’m very sad today when I saw the publication that we will be going to the IMF”. He stated.
