I’ve No Problem With Bawumia – Ken Agyapong

Kennedy Agyapong, a prospective flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said that he has no animosity against Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, another potential candidate.

Contrary to rumors that the contest has stoked profound divisions and hostility inside the party, particularly between him (Kennedy) and Dr. Bawumia, the two, he claims, get along well.

“I’m free with Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” Mr. Agyapong, who is also the NPP MP for Assin Central, stated on Kessben FM in Kumasi.

He claimed that because they are seasoned and mature politicians, they wouldn’t for a party election to foster hostility and enmity between them and their throngs of fans.

The Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) cited a specific instance to support his assertion that he does not have any animosity toward Dr. Bawumia, claiming that the Vice President openly makes fun of his (Kennedy’s) well-known “showdown” statements.

The vice president’s campaign staff, particularly Sammi Awuku and Fred Oware, received a ton of praise from the presidential hopeful at the event, who emphasized that these two men also value peace and togetherness.

He claimed that Sammi Awuku and Fred Oware always conduct in a way that avoids causing conflict between their favorite candidate (Bawumia) and the other competitors because they understand that the NPP election is a family affair.

“Right after my showdown statement, Sammi Awuku called me on my mobile phone to talk to his boss, Dr. Bawumia, and that is a mark of a person who is a unifier and a peacemaker. That’s very positive from him.

“Fred Oware is also good,” Kennedy Agyapong disclosed, stressing that interestingly, “some of Dr. Bawumia supporters don’t know that Dr. Bawumia and I talk all the time, so they insult me for nothing.”

If he loses the election honestly and without any manipulation, Mr. Agyapong said he would accept the results without hesitation, but he issued a warning that he would not take it lightly if the party used shady tactics to help one candidate win.
