President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has told students sitting for the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE) across the country to work hard and be part of government’s Free Senior High School policy.

In a tweet to wish the candidates a successful exams, the president reminded them that free SHS awaits them in September.

‘Best of luck to the 517,332 students sitting this year’s BECE. God be with you. Remember, Free SHS awaits you in September.’ the tweet reads.

The government’s Free SHS policy was introduced in 2017 to enable every student that successfully passed the BECE to further their education without any difficulty especially in terms of finance.

The programme has seen a good number of candidates enrolling in various SHS to further their education.

Although coupled with some challenges, the government is resolved to to sustain the policy to ensure every Ghanaian child receives affordable education.

This year’s examination has so far started on a good with no form of lack or inadequate materials to the centers nationwide.

Encouraging messages from stakeholders and government officials including Regional ministers and Education Directors have been sent to candidates across the country.
