Farmer jailed for stealing phone worth GH¢1,100
Tajir Njadi, a 20-year-old farmer, was given a six-month term with hard labor by the Nkwanta District court for stealing a Techno Pop 7 cell phone valued GH1,100.
The offender was penalized appropriately after entering a guilty plea to the crime.
The prosecutor, Police Inspector Bright Nana Nkansah, testified in court before Mr. Joseph Evans Anang Okrupa that on August 30, 2023, around noon, the convict Tajir Njadi entered Mr. Saja Larpi’s room at Damanko in the Nkwanta North District of the Oti Region and stole the phone.

The criminal was then caught in the act by a witness, who raised the alarm and resulted in his arrest.
He said that once the criminal was detained, an inquiry determined that he was guilty of the crime of stealing, leading to his conviction.
The prosecution further informed the court that the defendant was a convicted felon and a chronic thief who had been terrorizing Damanko locals with his propensity for stealing and needed to be punished as a deterrence to others.
