Afenyo-Markin Officially Takes Over As Majority Leader

Just 24 hours have passed since Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu resigned as Majority Leader, and his deputy has been appointed as his successor.

The majority caucus will now be led by Mr. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, who will be deputized by Patricia Appiagyei, the MP for Asokwa.

Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Nsawam-Adoagyiri, will continue to serve as Chief Whip.

The Deputy Whip is now Habib Iddrisu, MP for Tolon, and the Second Deputy Whip is now Alex Tettey Djonobuah, MP for Sefwi Akontombra.

Following his then-leadership late-night meeting with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the presidency, Mr. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu willingly resigned from his position.

However, in advance of the 2024 presidential and legislative elections, he has been named chairman of the New Patriotic Party manifesto committee.
