Economic Hardship: Things are really hard – CEO of Auntie Muni waakye cries
Famous Accra waakye vendor Auntie Muni has expressed her worries about the negative consequences of economic hardship on her booming company.
She bemoaned the rise in living expenses, in particular the skyrocketing costs of necessities on the market, during an interview on Asaase Radio on September 13, 2023.
She recounted a moment during the interview when her waakye company was successful and she could easily support her children, even sending them money in dollars for their treatment.

“In the past, it was good, but now no more. Things are very expensive now, but truth be told, it was good in the past,” Auntie Muni explained.
She pointed out how economic pressures have made it increasingly difficult for individuals to provide for their families.
“Nowadays you can’t take care of your children, but for me, I have taken care of my children, I used to pay in dollars but this time, no; it is not like the past.”
