#OccupyJulorBiHouse: Naana Opoku-Agyemang reacts to the arrest of protestors
Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) running mate for 2020, has responded to the arrest of #OccupyJulorBiHouse protesters.
She thinks it is unneeded and undemocratic.
The former minister of education said on Twitter that the protesters should have been engaged by the police rather than being arrested.
She now supports demands for the protesters to be detained right away.
Today’s arrest of the small band of protesters – mostly young, non threatening people – is unnecessary and undemocratic.
One expects the Police to have engaged them, to hear them out and to direct them accordingly, instead of intimidating, arresting, and brutalizing them.

Oliver Barker Vormawor, the organizer of Fix The Country, was among the protesters who were detained and transported to the regional police headquarters.
They were taken into custody early on September 21 for disobeying a police order prohibiting the march.
