Cook-A-Thon: Bawumia donates ₵30k to Chef Failatu

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President, has given chef Abdul-Razak Failatu GH₵ 30,000 to help her pay for the expenses she incurred while trying to break the Guinness World Record in a cook-a-thon.

Speaking on behalf of the Vice President, Northern Regional Minister Shani Alhassan Saibu said that the chef’s choice to host the cooking-a-thon in Tamale will highlight the area and demonstrate the wealth of hospitality the area has to offer.

“We are here on our behalf and behalf of his excellence the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and behalf of His excellence and flagbearer of my party Dr Mahamaudu Bawumia. He has asked us to make a donation on his behalf because duty has taken him out of the country.

“We are here to make a donation of GH₵30,000 from the Vice president to aid her in her ambition to break the Guinness World Record,” he said on January 1, 2023.

In his message of goodwill, Mr. Saibu wished Chef Failatu success in setting a new record that would be exceedingly hard for others to surpass.

On January 1, 2024, Chef Failatu set out to attempt the longest cooking marathon ever by one person.

In order to surpass Irish chef Alan Fisher’s current Guinness cook-a-thon record of 119 hours and 57 minutes, she plans to cook for an incredible 120 hours.

At the Modern City Hotel in Tamale, she is trying to pull off this feat.
