Cecilia Dapaah Sues Multimedia Group
Cecilia Abena Dapaah, a former minister of sanitation and water resources, has filed a lawsuit against the Multimedia Group for what she alleges are multiple defamatory articles published by the media outlet.
The statement of claim was submitted on behalf of Ms. Dapaah by her attorney, Victoria Barth, who claimed that Multimedia had published inaccurate information regarding her client’s bank accounts that was attributed to unnamed, unreliable sources.
According to the media, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) tracked $5 million in bank transactions in total and discovered GHC48 million in Ms. Dapaah’s Prudential Bank accounts in addition to additional funds in another account.

Later, the OSP denied these assertions on social media, claiming that it had not disclosed any exact dollar amounts discovered in Ms. Dapaah’s bank accounts.
Multimedia persisted in publishing items that referenced the bogus assertion notwithstanding this, according to Ms. Dapaah, harming her reputation.
Six specific declarations and orders are requested by Ms. Dapaah, including a declaration that the publications are false and defamatory, general and exemplary damages, a retraction and apology, and an injunction prohibiting Multimedia from publishing any further incorrect information.
