“Movie directors and producers eat us but we can’t report else they’ll blacklist us” – Vicky Zugah

Ghanaian actress, Vicky Zugah, who has won numerous awards, has discussed the possible cause of why many victims of sexual harassment in the film business are afraid to publicly identify and shame those who harass them.

The seasoned actress stated that some victims are reluctant to report harassment instances for fear of being shunned by the profession in an interview with Joy FM.

“In this part of the world when you’re this vocal they think that you’re not wife material.

So, if you’re a woman who is hoping to get married one day or who is aspiring to be maybe a politician, or any other figure, then you don’t need to say these things on air or expose yourself like this because you will be blacklisted,” she said.

She also emphasized how the public’s condemnation of victims who come forward to expose and humiliate their predators can occasionally be negative.

She claims that these comments put victims on the back burner since they don’t guarantee public support, therefore they choose to keep sleeping dogs lie.
