Blame Ofori Atta for economic hardship – Alan to Ghanaians
The country’s present economic difficulties have been attributed by Alan Kyerematen, the recently-retired Minister of Trade and Industry, to Ken Ofori-Atta, the Minister of Finance.
Alan, who left his position as trade minister earlier this year to vie for the NPP’s flagbearership, left the party yesterday to run as an independent.
In an interview with UTV on Tuesday, September 26, Alan, who served for six years as a member of the government’s Economic Management Team, attempted to absolve himself of responsibility for the nation’s current economic problems while adamantly stating that the finance minister is the one who makes the final call on economic matters.

“The Minister of Finance is the one who oversees the economy,” said Alan Kyerematen.
“He is in charge and he takes the final decision. I can only make contributions but he makes the final decision,” Alan said, as he rebuffed suggestions that as a member of the EMT, he should share in the blame
“I cannot take responsibility for decisions made by the finance minister. Is that what you are asking me to do?” he noted.
