Asamoah Gyan divorce saga: What the court gave vs the properties the ex-wife demanded
Asamoah Gyan, the former captain of the Black Stars, and his ex-wife Gifty finalized their divorce procedures on October 31, 2023, in an Accra High Court.
The 2013 marriage was dissolved by the court, which also issued rulings on Gifty’s land and vehicle interests as well as the paternity and custody of the three children born out of the wedding.
In his initial public response to the case’s resolution, Gyan hinted in a post on Twitter (now X) that he had accepted the verdict with maturity and that he had kept a sizable portion of his riches in the end.
The remedy that Gifty finally received and the relief that she requested in court.

The main reliefs she requested were as follows:
Gifty Gyan requested a $1 million monthly alimony payment. Declined
A court may mandate that a person provide alimony, also known as maintenance, to their spouse while they are separated or after a divorce.
Share of Asamoah Gyan’s ownership interest in several companies she claimed Gyan owns was denied. The court determined that Gifty Gyan had not demonstrated Asamoah Gyan’s ownership of these companies.
Rejected was a portion of an East Legon home and the Baby Jet Heights property. They were declared non-spousal properties by the court.
She wanted cost and legal fees. That was also dismissed.
What court granted Gifty Gyan were as follows:
a. In terms of landed property, Gifty will receive Asamoah Gyan’s UK mansion
b. Four-bedroom house at Spintex in Accra
c. Ownership of land meant for a fuelling station in Prampram.
d. She is also given a BMW, an Infiniti
