Armed Robbers have once again taken their operations to a location where many fear to even go there on a normal day. The military barracks have very strict security and it will beat the imagination of many on how armed robbers would even think of moving there to operate. Again this is where arms are kept and it can only take bold armed robbers to carry such a raid.
Occupants at the Michel Camp of the First Battalion of Infantry in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana received the shock of their lives when two armed robbers moved to Gbetsile, a community close to the area to carry out their operations. The armed robbers who came with motorbikes were ready to shoot anyone who comes their way.
They initially moved to a mobile money shop and took away the daily sales of the Vendor whose name has been given as Robert Senyo. He had made GHC 4,000 at the time and the robbers took everything away. As they were moving, they realized a military man, Chief Petty Officer Class One (CPO 1) Emmanuel Ayittey was buying cement at a nearby shop and moved to demand his money.
They took away GHC 800 and shot him multiple times in the legs. The armed robbers started firing shots to scare the residents in the area. The Military officer who was not in uniform at the time was quickly rushed to the 37 military hospitals where he is currently receiving treatment. According to Emanuel Ayittey of the Chronicle Newspaper in a report monitored by BeaNana, the Criminal Investigations Department at the Tema Police Command have initiated investigations into the robbery incident.
The action of these two fearless armed robbers requires the immediate reaction of the IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare. Wherever they are hiding must be unraveled as quickly as possible before they plan another attack. They have robbed an amount of GHC 4,800 and shot a military officer who was in mufti. The IGP, George Akuffo Dampare as usual, has to gather all the intelligence there are to bring the armed robbers who committed such heinous crime to book.
