Any politician that engages in looting, whether from the NDC or the NPP, is a disgrace – Sam George

Samuel Nartey George, a lawmaker from Ningo Prampram, has slammed anyone who engages in land grabs and plundering of state assets.

Such individuals, he said, are a shame to Ghana’s democracy.

Sam George tweeted on the current dispute surrounding the Achimota Forest, saying, “Achimota Forest land grab = CREATE, LOOT, & SHARE!” Any politician, past or present, NDC or NPP, legislator, judge, or businessperson implicated in this brazen looting plan is an embarrassment to our democracy. You’re all a bunch of jerks!”

Meanwhile, the Special Investigations Unit has begun a probe into the alleged fraudulent acquisition of state property by Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, the late former Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission (Sir John).

“The Office of the Special Prosecutor has begun full investigations into suspected corruption and corruption-related offences in respect of alleged improper and unlawful acquisition of state lands at the Achimota Forest enclave and Ramstar catchment at Sakumono in Accra by former Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie alias Sir John (Now deceased) and other persons,” according to a statement released by the OSP on Thursday,

William Nyarko, an anti-corruption activist, has petitioned the OSP to investigate the matter.

“I write on behalf of Corruption Watch Ghana to petition the Special Prosecutor to investigate the alleged acquisition of several acres of alleged state lands situated in the Achimota Forest and Ramsar sites in Sakumono by three artificial persons, namely Jakaypros Limited, Fasoh Limited, DML Limited, and two natural persons, namely Charles Owusu, an officer of the Forestry Commission, and Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie.
