Nigerian Lady Sets World Record For Longest Handmade Wig
The Guinness World Record for the longest handmade wig has been broken by a Nigerian lady.
The record was established by Lagos resident Helen Williams, who created a wig that measured longer than 350 meters (1,150 feet), according to a statement from Guinness World Records (GWR).
Ms. Williams, an eight-year veteran professional wig manufacturer, took 11 days and $2,493 (£2,031) to complete the wig.
Despite her experience, she claimed that the process was challenging, especially locating the necessary supplies. GWR cited her as stating that she eventually “felt exhausted.”

“However, friends and family encouraged me. I did not want to let them down, so I maintained my focus. The outcome is the longest handmade wig in the world,” she said.
Obtaining room to precisely measure and arrange the wig in a straight line was the most obstacle, she said.
Eventually, she did so on the freeway that runs between Lagos and Abeokuta.
It follows the dethronement of Nigerian chef Hilda Baci as the world record holder for nonstop cooking last week.
When Ms. Baci won the crown earlier this year, Nigeria was enthralled.
