Accra is 7th most expensive city in Africa – Research

According to Numbeo, one of the leading data and research platforms worldwide, Accra is the seventh most expensive city in Africa to live in.

Ghana’s capital city scored 32 out of 100 on the ranking.

Variables such the rent index, grocery index, restaurant index, cost of living plus rent index, and local buying power were used in the Numbeo index.
South Africa has four cities that are in the top 10 most expensive in Africa, despite the country’s dire economic conditions.

Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Pretoria were placed first, second, and third, respectively.

The largest city in Africa, Lagos, ranked fourth, followed by Casablanca, Morocco, and Durban, South Africa, which came in fifth and sixth, respectively.

The rising cost of life in many African cities is fueled by inflation, currency fluctuations, increased taxes, and the elimination of subsidies on necessities like petrol.

As a result, the cost of necessities like food and utilities has increased.

Even if there has been noticeable economic progress in several African cities, income disparity is still a problem.

A large section of the population finds it impossible to keep up with the rising cost of living as the gap between the rich and the poor continues to widen.
