Volta Region: 3 ‘Sakawa’ Boys arrested over ritual killing

Three persons believed to be in money rituals popularly known as Sakawa have been arrested in connection with the killing of a 12-year-old boy.

MyNewsGh.com earlier reported that a 12-year-old boy had been murdered at a shrine at Ndogokope a village near Tadzewu in the Volta Region.

According to reports from the local media, Cornelius Eboe Negble was kidnapped from his hometown at Nornyikpo near Ziope during a funeral on May 20, 2021, and thereafter, there was no trace of him.

Cornelius Eboe Negble was said to have been slaughtered for money making rituals at the shrine on the instructions of the ritualist who had earlier demanded a human head from his clients.

But speaking to Pressmen on the latest development, Kpetoe District Police Commander, DSP Bennedicta Ansah said that three persons have been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of the boy.

The three include Senanu Ashitor Atikpoe, 28, Kudzo Akpatsu, 49, Etse Louis, 25, who are currently in the custody of the police.

However, the fetish priest who superintended the rituals Hunor Kofi Koko, his brother Anani Komko and three others whose names are Kwame Kakpetor, William Kakpetor and another whose name is given as Moris are at large and are been hunted for by the Police.

The Commander revealed that members of the community suspected Atiskpoe’s involvement in the disappearance of Cornelius and therefore dragged him to the Chief’s Palace after which he was handed over to the police.

Atikpoe is said to have told the Police the name of the fetish priest and others who were involved.

Meanwhile, the body of the 12-year-old has decomposed and have since been brought to the Police hospital for autopsy.
